NINTH ANNUAL CAMP

JUNE 24-29, 2012

Experience  and enjoy learning the techniques, fundamentals, professional, artistic and educational philosophies, and the fun and excitement behind the highly successful, internationally renowned Gold Company Program at the STEVE ZEGREE VOCAL JAZZ SUMMER CAMP  held at Western Michigan University!!

For high school and college students, teachers and professors at all levels, rhythm section players (piano, bass and drums), amateur and professional singers. Teachers may bring a student or two to help get a “jumpstart” on the new year. Space in our summer camp is limited to 40 participants, and reservations will be accepted on a first-come basis. Our 2011 camp was  full. There are  openings for teachers and students at our 2012 camp!!! Please join us for some vocal jazz fun, education, energy and  inspiration, June 24-29, 2012. All camp participants receive four PRIVATE coachings and  perform solos with a professional jazz trio "live" at The Union Cabaret and Grill, a Kalamazoo Jazz Club!!

International campers (students and teachers) may need to apply for a visa in order to attend our camp. Please plan to apply for your visa at least 6 - 8 weeks prior to the camp.

Due to the limited number of campers we accept and our wonderful staff-student ratio, all campers receive personal attention. TEACHERS have the opportunity to improve their rehearsal skills during the week and conduct an ensemble on the final concert. The final concert typically includes 18 group vocal pieces performed by the campers!!!!

Location

All sessions will be held on the beautiful Western Michigan University campus in Kalamazoo. The Dalton Center, a state-of-the-art performance facility, will be the hub of all activities during the camp. Kalamazoo is easily accessible by automobile, Amtrak train or many major airlines.
